He is of Italian, English, Irish, Welsh, and German descent. He has an older brother named Jess who is pursuing a career as a musician, and his uncle Vincent is a reality television personality.
His brother Jess also played drums in a band called “Camp Kill Yourself”. Bam grew up in a family of actors like his father and mother both known as reality television stars. He was given the name “Bam Bam” at the age of three, by his grandfather, after his habit of running into walls. The name was later shortened to just Bam by his classmates.
Bam started skateboarding in his early teens and idolized skaters Boulala, Penny, Maldonado, Keri Getz, Saari, Hoofbite, and more. Moving on to his education, he first attended West Chester East High School but later dropped out in the 11th grade. He has since gotten his GED.
His older brother Jess played drums and later Bam learned the keyboard and they began making skating, stunt, and sketch videos under the band name but as an acronym CKY. Bam’s other friends would join the group including Bam’s best friend Ryan Dunn, Chris Raab, Brandon DiCamillo, and more.
There DVD series would go on to sell more than 400k copies. This was originally through the Skate community and then through word of mouth.
Having found his passion for filmmaking and entertainment Bam had little interest in school. The success of CKY caught the eye of then skateboarding magazine Big Brother’s editor Jeff Tremaine. This man originally brought the idea of Jackass to MTV. In 2000 they got to work making a show and Bam was given a lead role alongside other pranksters including Steve-O and Johnny Knoxville.
Jackass only produced two seasons but made the boys’ household stars to a whole new generation. The boys had made it to the top of the show business and were being paid millions of dollars while partying like rockstars. Furthermore, Bam also made his appearance in the following projects in the Jackass franchise. These movies are including, 2002s Jackass: The Movie, 2006s Jackass Number Two, 2010s Jackass 3D, and 2010s Jackass 3D.

From 2003 to 2005, Bam appeared in his own MTV series called Viva La Bam which aired for five seasons and was mostly filmed in his hometown of West Chester.
On top of that, Bam took his stunts abroad, and the show was also filmed in some other locations such as Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Brazil, Finland, Mexico, and the Netherlands. This was the first time he entered Rehab but left the program after 4 days. Probably one of the biggest blows to Bam’s hopes of sobriety was the loss of his friend Ryan Dunn in 2011.
A lifelong collaborator and drinking buddy, Ryan lost his life in a drunk driving accident. The loss hit Bam especially hard who said he started drinking not for fun but to forget. The following year was the one he stated that he lost control of his drinking.
It was this year that he was also forced to give up skateboarding due to a bone Spur. In 2015 Bam entered Rehan again but again didn’t complete the program. His next stop was on Family Therapy with DR. Jenn for VH1.
Following this, he enjoyed 7 months of Sobriety and began to skate again, and patched things up with his family with some time away in Spain. He also has a radio show with Sirius XM. Bam transformed his home, made famous on Viva La Bam into an Air BnB where fans could stay.
